Why this matters here
Turks and Caicos uses the US dollar as its official currency. That removes an entire category of friction that merchants elsewhere in the region spend real effort managing. Your visitors are quoted in dollars, they pay in dollars, and you settle in dollars. There is no conversion step and therefore no exchange spread quietly taken along the way.
This is precisely where aggregators look least attractive. Their usual pitch is convenience, but the convenience is largely about handling currency and onboarding. When neither is a problem, what remains is a percentage of every sale and a holding period of a week or more before you can touch your own revenue. For a villa manager or tour operator with seasonal cash flow, that delay is the expensive part, not the fee.
Going direct to Scotiabank means funds settle into your merchant account, typically by the next business day, and the only per-transaction cost is the bank's own merchant rate under your existing agreement.
Pre-authorization lets you hold a deposit at booking and capture the balance later, or void it entirely if plans change. It runs from the WooCommerce order screen.
How it works
Merchant services at Scotiabank Turks and Caicos handle the application. Ask for eCom+ by name and request that the API be enabled so refunds and captures work from WooCommerce.
Install the free build from WordPress.org and run the supplied test cards through a full booking, including a refund, before the season starts rather than during it.
Swap in live credentials, take one small real transaction, and confirm settlement with the bank.
WP Companion is an independent third-party developer and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Scotiabank. We do not process payments, hold funds, or act as a financial institution, and we never request internet banking usernames or passwords. All payment processing happens on Scotiabank's own secure platform.
