Why this matters here
Foreign exchange access is a live constraint for businesses in Trinidad and Tobago. If you sell to customers abroad, or to local customers who hold USD cards, being able to accept and hold US dollars directly changes what your business can do rather than being a nice-to-have feature.
Because the plugin talks straight to the Scotiabank eCom+ gateway, your currency configuration is whatever your merchant account is set up for. If Scotiabank has enabled USD on your account, you can run TTD and USD on the same WooCommerce store with a standard currency switcher. There is no aggregator in between converting at their own rate and holding your funds for a fortnight.
This is also our home market. WP Companion Technology Solutions Limited is registered in Trinidad and Tobago, and every support ticket is answered from here. When something needs escalating to the bank, we already know who to call.
If you would rather not run the integration yourself, four of our preferred partners are based in Trinidad and have taken merchants from sandbox to live on this exact gateway.
How it works
You need a Scotiabank merchant account with the eCom+ service enabled. If you are not sure where to start, tell us and we will point you at the right people at the bank. This step is usually the longest part of the process, so start it early.
Install the free build from WordPress.org and run test cards through your checkout using the sandbox credentials Scotiabank provides. Prove the whole flow, including a 3D Secure challenge, before you pay us anything.
Swap in your live credentials, place a small real transaction, and confirm settlement with Scotiabank. Most merchants are live within a day of receiving credentials.
WP Companion is an independent third-party developer and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Scotiabank. We do not process payments, hold funds, or act as a financial institution, and we never request internet banking usernames or passwords. All payment processing happens on Scotiabank's own secure platform.
Tell us where you are in the process and we will tell you honestly what is left to do.
