Which plugin do you need?

It depends on which payment gateway your merchant account runs on. Your bank usually recommends one when you apply, so the bank you choose is the best clue. These are the acquiring banks operating in Barbados and the gateways they typically recommend.

Plugin available now

Scotiabank

Scotiabank merchants use the eCom+ gateway, and our plugin for it is available today with modal checkout and 3D Secure 2.0. Ask Scotiabank to enable API access for refunds and captures, and tokenization with recurring payments if you want saved cards or subscriptions.

Why this matters here

Taking deposits months before the guest lands.

A lot of Barbadian commerce is booked well in advance and from abroad. Villa rentals, tours, dive operators, restaurants with limited covers and event venues all take money from someone sitting in London or Toronto weeks or months before they set foot on the island.

That pattern makes pre-authorization genuinely useful rather than a technical curiosity. You can hold an amount on the card at the time of booking without charging it, then capture the full sum, capture part of it, or void the hold entirely once you have confirmed availability. All of it runs from the WooCommerce order screen, so your staff never need a separate bank portal login.

Because the Barbados dollar is pegged to the US dollar at two to one, pricing in either currency is predictable. If your bank has enabled USD on your merchant account, you can quote overseas guests in dollars they recognise while still settling locally.

Refunds without the portal

Cancellations are a fact of life in hospitality. Once your bank has enabled API access on your account, full and partial refunds run directly from the order screen in WooCommerce.

How it works

From application to first live payment.

01

Get an e-commerce merchant account

Speak to your bank’s merchant services team and confirm which gateway the account runs on. If pre-authorization matters to your business, say so during the application, because the bank-side API permissions that enable holds and captures are worth requesting up front.

02

Test free in sandbox

Install our free sandbox build and run the supplied test cards. Every feature is unlocked in sandbox, so test a deposit, a capture and a refund and prove your booking flow end to end before a real guest uses it.

03

Go live in BBD, USD, or both

Swap in live credentials, take one small real booking, and confirm settlement with the bank before you open the flow to guests.
