Take Visa and Mastercard in GYD or USD through your own merchant account, on infrastructure that will still be right for you when the business is several times its current size.

It depends on which payment gateway your merchant account runs on. Your bank usually recommends one when you apply, so the bank you choose is the best clue. These are the acquiring banks operating in Guyana and the gateways they typically recommend.
Scotiabank merchants use the eCom+ gateway, and our plugin for it is available today with modal checkout and 3D Secure 2.0. Ask Scotiabank to enable API access for refunds and captures, and tokenization with recurring payments if you want saved cards or subscriptions.

Why this matters here
Guyana is expanding faster than anywhere else in the region, and businesses here are coming online at a pace that makes the usual advice unreliable. A payment setup chosen for the volume you do this quarter can look expensive very quickly.
This is the practical argument against aggregators and percentage-fee plugins. A three and a half percent cut is tolerable on modest revenue and painful on serious revenue, and it grows precisely as you succeed. A flat annual licence, which is how our plugins are priced, does not move. It costs the same whether your store turns over ten thousand US dollars or a hundred and fifty thousand, so the cost per sale falls every year you grow.
The other thing that matters for businesses scaling quickly is not needing to rebuild. Choose an integration that already supports pre-authorization, partial capture, refunds, saved cards, multi-store reporting and subscriptions, so the checkout you install now is still the right one when your operation is more complicated.
Order ID prefixing lets several WooCommerce stores share one merchant account while staying distinguishable in your bank’s transaction reports. Ask whether your integration supports it before you launch a second store.
How it works
Ask your bank’s merchant services team for online card acceptance, confirm which gateway the account runs on, and confirm which currencies will be enabled before you build your pricing around them.
Install our free sandbox build and prove the flow with the supplied test cards. Every feature is unlocked in sandbox and there is no time limit, so take as long as you need.
Swap in live credentials, place a small real transaction, and confirm settlement with the bank.
Tell us where you are in the process and we will tell you honestly what is left to do.
