Which plugin do you need?

It depends on which payment gateway your merchant account runs on. Your bank usually recommends one when you apply, so the bank you choose is the best clue. These are the acquiring banks operating in Jamaica and the gateways they typically recommend.

Plugin available now

Scotiabank

Scotiabank merchants use the eCom+ gateway, and our plugin for it is available today with modal checkout and 3D Secure 2.0. Ask Scotiabank to enable API access for refunds and captures, and tokenization with recurring payments if you want saved cards or subscriptions.

Why this matters here

Selling to Jamaica and to the diaspora at the same time.

Jamaican online merchants tend to serve two audiences at once. There are customers at home paying in Jamaican dollars, and there is a large diaspora in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom buying goods, booking services and sending things back. Those overseas transactions are the ones payment processors flag hardest.

That makes 3D Secure 2.0 more than a compliance checkbox. It shifts liability for fraudulent chargebacks away from you and onto the card issuer on authenticated transactions, and the newer protocol does it without the clumsy password page that used to cost merchants abandoned carts. For a store taking a meaningful share of cross-border orders, that difference shows up directly in revenue.

Our plugins run 3D Secure 2.0 wherever your bank’s configuration calls for it, with the payment form opening in a modal directly on your checkout page, so the customer authenticates and pays without ever being sent to a separate page.

How it works

From application to first live payment.

01

Get an e-commerce merchant account

Ask your bank’s merchant services team for online card acceptance and confirm which gateway the account runs on. If you want to take US dollars, confirm that USD is enabled on the account at the same time rather than after the fact.

02

Test free in sandbox

Install our free sandbox build, enter your sandbox credentials and run the test cards. Every feature is unlocked in sandbox, so include a 3D Secure challenge in your testing and you will know exactly what your overseas customers will see.

03

Go live

Swap in live credentials, place a small real transaction, and confirm it settles into your merchant account. Then turn on refunds and captures from the WooCommerce order screen.
