Getting started
From prerequisites to your first live transaction. Work through this in order and you will not hit the two problems that stall most integrations.
The plugin requires you to have signed up for the Scotiabank eCom+ service. We help merchants navigate that signup process so it goes smoothly. If you do not yet have access, we can put you in touch with the right people at the bank for your country.
Once you are signed up, Scotiabank issues you a Store ID and a Shared Secret. Those two values are what the plugin uses to talk to the gateway.

The quickest route. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins, then Add New. Search for "Scotia" and the Scotiabank Payment Gateway for WooCommerce plugin appears near the top of the results. Click Install Now, then Activate.

Once the plugin is installed, enter either the sandbox credentials Scotiabank issued you or the testing credentials we provide, then set your store currency to USD for the test.
Run a transaction using any of these test card numbers, with any future expiry date and any CVV.
Test a full approval, a 3D Secure challenge and a refund before you go live. Sandbox mode has no time limit, so there is no reason to rush this step.
Scotiabank will only approve your account for live card acceptance once your store's transaction emails carry the information the bank requires. This catches out a lot of merchants at the final hurdle, so handle it before you request live credentials rather than after.
We provide a code snippet that adds the required details to WooCommerce's default email templates. It goes into your theme's functions.php file or, better, a code snippets plugin so it survives theme updates.
If the last step fails, the Scotiabank API is most likely not yet enabled on your account. That is a bank-side permission and one phone call usually resolves it.
