FAQs

Questions merchants ask

Something not covered here? We answer directly, from Trinidad and Tobago.

Are there any transaction fees?

WP Companion charges zero transaction fees. You pay a flat licence fee. The only per-transaction costs are Scotiabank's own merchant processing fees, which are part of your merchant account agreement with the bank.

Which currencies does the plugin support?

Both USD and your local Caribbean currency, including TTD, JMD and BBD, depending on your Scotiabank eCom+ configuration. You can accept payments in either currency using a standard currency switcher plugin.

Is the checkout secure?

Yes. All payment processing happens on Scotiabank's PCI-compliant hosted platform. Your website never sees or stores card numbers. The plugin also supports 3D Secure 2.0 for an additional layer of authentication against fraud.

Does the payment form redirect customers away from my site?

No. With modal checkout the payment form opens in an overlay on your checkout page, the customer pays, and the order completes without leaving your store. If you prefer the older flow, the redirect to a separate order-pay page is still available under Payment Behaviour in the settings.

Can customers save their card for future purchases?

Yes, on the Premium plan. Logged-in customers can tick a box at checkout to save their card and skip re-entering details next time. Saved cards are managed securely by Scotiabank, so your site only stores a token reference, never the card number.

What is the order ID prefix feature?

On the Premium plan you can add a custom prefix such as "WEB-" to the order ID submitted to Scotiabank. This is useful when more than one WooCommerce store is connected to the same merchant account, so you can tell which store a transaction came from in Merchant Admin reports. It does not facilitate marketplace or multi-store setups.

Can I process refunds from WooCommerce?

Yes, on the Professional plan. Process full or partial refunds directly from the WooCommerce order screen once Scotiabank's API is active on your account, with no need to log into Merchant Admin.

What is pre-authorization and when would I use it?

Pre-authorization holds an amount on a customer's card at checkout without charging it. You can then capture the full amount, a partial amount, or void the authorization entirely from your WooCommerce dashboard. This is useful when you need to verify stock, adjust order amounts, or delay fulfilment.

Can I sell subscriptions or memberships?

Yes, on the Premium plan. When a subscription product is in the cart the plugin saves the customer's payment method automatically, and renewals process on schedule in the background with no customer interaction. This requires the WooCommerce Subscriptions extension, which is sold separately by WooCommerce.

Does the plugin work with WooCommerce Block Checkout?

Yes. The plugin supports both the classic checkout and Block Checkout, with modal and redirect flows available in each. Saved payment methods work in both for Premium plan users.

I am a developer or agency. Do you have a partner program?

Yes. Referral commissions, free development licences, priority support and early access to new features. See the Partner Network page to learn more.

Where can I get support?

Free plan users can use the WordPress.org support forum. Professional and Premium users get priority support and can contact us directly through this site.
