What you need before you start

The bank account, service and credentials the plugin depends on, and how to avoid the delays that stall most integrations.

The plugin connects your WooCommerce store to Scotiabank’s eCom+ gateway. It does not replace the bank, so there are a few things that must be in place before it can do anything useful.

What you need

  • A WordPress site running WooCommerce.
  • A Scotiabank merchant account, in a territory where eCom+ is offered.
  • The eCom+ service enabled on that merchant account.
  • A Store ID and Shared Secret, issued by Scotiabank once eCom+ is active.

Getting eCom+ enabled

This is the step that takes the longest, so start it first. Speak to merchant services at your Scotiabank branch and ask for eCom+ by name. Two things are worth raising during the application rather than afterwards:

  • Currencies. Confirm which currencies will be enabled. If you want to accept USD alongside your local currency, ask for both up front. Adding one later is a separate request.
  • API access. If you want to run refunds, captures and voids from inside WooCommerce, the bank needs to enable API access on your account. Ask for it now.

If you are not sure who to speak to, tell us your country and we will point you at the right people.

You can start before the bank finishes

You do not have to wait. Testing credentials are available so you can install the plugin, run test transactions and confirm your checkout works while your merchant application is still in progress. By the time the bank issues your live credentials, the only remaining step is swapping them in.
