Going live
An ordered checklist from bank approval to your first real transaction, and how to prove refunds work.
The email requirement that blocks live approval, and why the snippet does not belong in your theme.
Scotiabank will not approve your account for live card acceptance until your store’s transaction emails carry the information the bank requires. This catches a lot of merchants at the final hurdle, so deal with it before you request live credentials rather than after.
Card schemes require merchants to give cardholders clear information about who they paid, what for, and how to get in touch about a problem. Scotiabank checks this as part of approving you for live transactions. Meeting it up front saves a round trip.
We provide a code snippet that appends the required details to WooCommerce’s default transaction emails. Contact us and we will send you the current version.
Install it using a code snippets plugin rather than pasting it into your theme’s functions.php. Code in a theme file is lost the moment the theme is updated or switched, and a payment approval quietly breaking months later is a difficult problem to trace.
The snippet targets WooCommerce’s default email templates. If your theme or another plugin overrides those templates, the information may not appear. Send yourself a test order confirmation and read it before you submit anything to the bank.
