Going live

An ordered checklist from bank approval to your first real transaction, and how to prove refunds work.

Professional / Premium 1.0 3 August 2026

Work through these in order. Each step confirms something the next one depends on.

Before you switch

  1. Confirm Scotiabank has approved your account for live transactions.
  2. Confirm your transaction emails carry the information the bank requires.
  3. Confirm you have completed sandbox testing, including a 3D Secure challenge and a decline.
  4. Set your store currency to the currency enabled on your merchant account.

Making the switch

  1. Replace the sandbox Store ID and Shared Secret with your live values.
  2. Turn off test or sandbox mode in the plugin settings.
  3. Save, and confirm the gateway shows as enabled on the Payments screen.

Proving it works

  1. Place one small real transaction using your own card.
  2. Confirm the order completes and the status is correct in WooCommerce.
  3. Confirm the transaction appears in Merchant Admin.
  4. Refund that transaction from the WooCommerce order screen.
  5. Confirm the refund appears in Merchant Admin too.

If the refund step fails while the payment succeeded, the bank has almost certainly not enabled API access on your account. That is a bank-side permission, and one phone call usually resolves it.

After going live

Watch your first few real orders. Cards issued abroad behave differently from local ones, and a 3D Secure step that never triggered in sandbox may appear for an overseas customer.
